Lindsay McGowan (AKA Penny Cat) is a Cherokee artist, cat lady and horror writer living in Alaska. Lindsay loves to create hand-drawn digital paintings and short (psychological) horror fiction. Her art is usually of a deeply personal nature; channeling her struggles & emotions into art as a way to heal, process and manage Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Although her work is often dark, it's also vibrant and hauntingly beautiful, representing more than her pain and struggle-- but also the will and strength to overcome it. Lindsay does not attach negative feelings to her art even when negativity is the inspiration; describing the completion of any piece as a cathartic and joyful experience.
Lindsay's healing journey isn't over, but she's made truly incredible progress and hopes to inspire others to explore art as a tool in their own personal journeys. Art therapy is a productive and safe outlet to feel what you need to feel without judgment. Who wouldn't benefit from that?
If her dark art isn't your jam, you might enjoy her other collections-- filled with cats, tarot and magic. More is on the way!
