Crypto.com Airdrops LeBron James NFTs to its Super Bowl Commercial Viewers
The Crypto.com exchange has announced an airdrop of its "The Moment of Truth" non-fungible token (NFT) collection, which features Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, to 5,550 viewers of its Super Bowl commercial.
Those who spotted and scanned a hidden QR code that appeared 10 seconds into a dialogue between present-day James and his nervous adolescent self were entered to win a limited edition NFT. The NFT collection consists of Instant glimpses of behind-the-scenes moments from the making of the Big Game commercial.
"Sleuths" who scanned a QR code that appeared on-screen for a fraction of a second were directed to a "secret" webpage where they could sign up for the Crypto.com NFT platform. Lucky fans will receive one of 5,550 free NFTs; the drop consists of 15 NFTs that come in three tiers with varying editions.
Crypto.com collaborated with LeBron James and the LeBron James Family Foundation, or LJFF, on educational and vocational Web3 opportunities. The partnership, according to a statement, will provide students and families in LeBron James' hometown of Akron, Ohio with tools and resources to learn about blockchain technology and potential career paths in crypto.
“I want to ensure that communities like the one I come from are not left behind," said James. He Further stated that with crypto.com, they are "aligned on the need to educate and support my community with the information and tools they need for inclusion."
Crypto.com does not sell the airdropped NFTs. As royalties, 5% of all NFT resales, whether on the Crypto.com NFT platform or another secondary exchange, will go to the LeBron James Family Foundation.
