Dwyane Wade Partners with Budweiser Zero to Launch an NFT Collection
Wade is working on an NFT collection with Budweiser Zero, which will be released on May 24. The NFTs will cost $180 each and will offer buyers the chance to win rewards such as autographed Wade sneakers and a chance to watch a Utah Jazz game with him.
Dwyane Wade, the former NBA star for the Miami Heat, co-founded the alcohol- and sugar-free beverage in 2020 and now is teaming on a new set of limited-edition non-fungible tokens to introduce Budweiser Zero into the realm of NFTs and the metaverse (NFTs).
“I’ve always taken chances,” said Wade in an interview. “I’ve always been a guy that’s done things a little different than everybody.”
Despite this, the NFT collection is being released at a time when digital assets are in decline. According to The Wall Street Journal, daily sales of NFTs have dropped by more than 90% since September 2021. It also comes amid a cryptocurrency sell-off, including bitcoin. Wade, on the other hand, is willing to take a gamble on the space.
“If you look at my basketball career, my business career has gone very similar,” he said.
Another plus is that the NFT's net profits will be donated to a fund benefiting minority-owned businesses in underrepresented communities across the United States. On May 24th, at 2 p.m., the entire collection will be available.
