Hooters Files New Metaverse and NFT Trademark Application
Hooters' famous wings and waitresses may soon be available on Web3. Hooters is serious about building NFTs and a metaverse restaurant, according to a March 25th application filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office.
Despite the fact that Hooters hasn't made any explicit intentions for its Web3 efforts, a recent patent states three goals. To begin, the American restaurant chain has stated that it is interested in developing NFT versions of its menu items. This section also suggests Hooters is interested in making NFTs using art, music, and video clips. In addition, Hooters states it wants to establish "Online retail services featuring virtual items".
It is also evident that Hooters' metaverse site will connect to real world restaurants. Thus, customers might purchase IRL delivery services at Hooters' planned metaverse destination, according to the company's trademark application.
Despite the fact that sports betting is not mentioned in its trademark application, Hooters has made news this year for adding gambling to some of its physical locations. Moreover, it just announced a partnership with BettorView and DraftKings to allow guests to bet on prominent professional sports.
It is no secret that DraftKings is getting more involved with non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Some speculate that Hooters may soon partner with DraftKings' NFT market, based on the restaurant chain's previous NFT patent requests. For the time being, there is no official press announcement about these two companies' NFT collaborations.
