According to a statement made on Wednesday, the bank aims to purchase a parcel of land in the popular decentralized metaverse and use it to engage with sports, e-sports, and gaming lovers. More information concerning the virtual parcel of land's future development was not provided.
"Through our partnership with The Sandbox we are making our foray into the metaverse, allowing us to create innovative brand experiences for new and existing customers," said Suresh Balaji, the chief marketing officer of HSBC's Asia-Pacific branch. "We're excited to be working with our sports partners, brand ambassadors, and Animoca Brands to co-create experiences that are educational, inclusive, and accessible."
The Sandbox fully embraces the idea of the metaverse as a continuous shared digital place where worlds and brands meet to generate magic and actual utility and economy.
