Meta Launches a Metaverse Clothing Store

During an Instagram Live with Eva Chen, Instagram's vice president of fashion partnerships, Mark Zuckerberg announced the "Meta Avatars Store," a new online digital designer clothing store.

Users will be able to purchase virtual clothing for their avatars from the new store, which will be available on Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. Next Monday, the store will launch, and it will first feature digital clothing from Balenciaga, Prada, and Thom Browne. Meta has not provided a price for these digital costumes, but it is important to note that the free Meta avatar clothing options will still be accessible.

Mark Zuckerberg shared an image of his avatar wearing a variety of outfits to showcase the new clothing options available at the Meta Avatars Store. Instagram executive Eva Chen also shared a photo of her Meta avatar wearing new virtual clothes.

According to Zuckerberg, Meta aims to turn the shop into an open market where designers may create and sell clothing.

“We’re launching our Avatars Store on Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger so you can buy digital clothes to style your avatar,” Zuckerberg said in a statement. “Digital goods will be an important way to express yourself in the metaverse and a big driver of the creative economy. I’m excited to add more brands and bring this to VR soon too.”

In order to provide clients additional options, Meta intends to expand its partnerships with significant clothing labels in the upcoming months. Additionally, according to Mark Zuckerberg, he is striving to make these wardrobes compatible with the business' VR experiences.
