Miley Cyrus Files for Metaverse & NFT Trademark Applications
American singer Miley Cyrus has submitted two trademark applications under the names "Miley" and "Miley Cyrus" through her organization Miley Smiley. The trademarks cover a broad range of Web3 products and services including non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
The most recent celebrity to join the NFT bandwagon is international icon, Miley Cyrus. According to a tweet from NFT and metaverse trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis, Cyrus submitted trademark applications with the USPTO on August 16 for the names "Miley" and "Miley Cyrus."
The trademark filings position Cyrus to provide a variety of goods and services in addition to potential live concerts by other musicians including Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, Charli XCX, and the Foo Fighters. Although the trademarks cover a wide range of goods, from cosmetics to clothing, there is still no information yet on the specifics of the products she will offer.
Although this is Miley Cyrus's first solo initiative, it is not her first foray into web3 and the metaverse. Gucci has named her the first "celebrity guest" of Gucci Town in the Roblox metaverse. She was supposed to guide players through a series of tasks to discover more about a particular Gucci fragrance. Also, Roblox gamers could take selfies with a Cyrus avatar.
While some businesses decide to plunge fully into the Web3 world, other businesses choose a more measured approach and submit trademark applications.
For Miley Cyrus's fans, the filing of trademark applications is exciting news since it shows that she intends to increase her web3 presence. It may provide the opportunity to interact with her in a genuinely new way, as many businesses and individuals submitting these applications have demonstrated in the past.
