SuperRare is Opening a Curated NFT Gallery Space in New York City
SuperRare, a curated NFT artwork marketplace, will soon open its first physical gallery space in New York City.
From May 19 to August 28, the SuperRare Gallery pop-up will feature a rotating roster of curated NFT exhibitions and programs highlighting the evolution of digital art.
Visions from Remembered Futures, the inaugural show, was curated by SuperRare senior curator An Rong and comprises works by 15 digital artists exploring science fiction and futurism themes. Future programming will include a Pride Month-themed exhibition, a two-dimensional digital painting exhibition, and a display of works by Black digital artists.
“NTFs are dynamic artworks and seeing them displayed in a gallery setting, sparking dialogue and connection has long been a goal for us at SuperRare,” said John Crain, SuperRare co-founder and CEO.
The gallery aims to make digital art "accessible, beautiful, inspiring, and to encourage in-person friendships and discourse," according to SuperRare. It goes on to say that traditional institutions have often overlooked digital art because of the challenges of showing the works in a physical context.
