Warner Music Group Partners With Splinterlands to Explore NFT Gaming
Warner Music Group (WMG) is teaming up with NFT gaming developer Splinterlands to expand the usability of WMG's portfolio with a series of NFT-powered arcade games.
The firms will engage in a first-of-its-kind collaboration to allow select WMG artists to design and build innovative, play-to-earn, arcade-style blockchain games in a mutually advantageous partnership for music lovers and splinterlands gamers alike.
Splinterlands and WMG will make mobile-friendly, accessible games that can promote wider adoption and foster community building more easily than traditional play-to-earn games by leaning into arcade-style gameplay.
“I don’t think we can underestimate how massive the opportunity around P2E gaming is. By partnering with Splinterlands to build custom tokenized games, we’ll unlock new revenue streams for our artists who have an interest in the space while elevating the role of fandom and community,” said Oana Ruxandra, WMG’s Chief Digital Officer & EVP, Business Development. He further added, “as the Web3 ecosystem continues to evolve, WMG is committed to making sure music is front-and-center.”
WMG will be able to introduce its millions of customers to the blockchain and implement a strategic new rewards system by developing a series of tokenized arcade games. Thus, it will allow WMG to expand its musical offerings to a wider customer base.
WMG has made significant progress toward blockchain integration in recent months. So far, it has partnered with The SandBox, one of the leading virtual worlds, and OneOf, an NFT music platform.
